Creation of new automated entrance for community hub

Dunston Family Church serves the public by providing a wide range of sports and social activities for all ages and abilities at its community hubs. It supports the whole community including families, and vulnerable adults.

The main entrance to the Teams Life Centre in Gateshead caused access problems for those with pushchairs and mobility aids; both the existing doors had to be propped open to allow access. Additionally, the entrance was insecure and there was no way of controlling who entered or left the building.

With some of the shortfall funding being provided by the National Lottery Communities Fund, the Biffa Award grant made it possible to install new electrically operated doors with an intercom system keeping children and vulnerable adult groups safer whilst on site.
