Project/Applicant Name:The Lowry Centre Trust
Grant Received:£74,816

The Lowry is a cultural hotspot situated on Salford Quays in Greater Manchester. The Quays Theatre is an adaptable auditorium space able to facilitate a range of arts from music, drama, dance, comedy to circus, and is an important venue for learning and engagement programmes, offering schools, families and targeted groups of young people the chance to participate in and enjoy free, open access and creative performance-based activities.

After almost 25 years of constant use, the seats had suffered wear and tear and, despite the in-house team’s best efforts to clean and repair them, the time had come for a complete renewal. A Biffa Award grant of £74,816.00 saw all 480 seats reupholstered and refurbished to a beautiful standard.

The result is a clean, comfortable, and welcoming space befitting the world-class arts programmes that go on here and will be enjoyed by audiences for many years to come.
