Grant Received:£29,593.00

The Goodwin Development Trust is a social housing organisation that owns and manages a range of recreational facilities across Humberside including the Turf Youth Club. The club has its own multi-use games area (MUGA). Since its construction in 2006, it had been a valuable and popular resource used for a range of sports and other activities including fitness sessions, football, open air theatre and choir practice.

However, extensive flooding in November 2019 forced the area to close due to health and safety concerns. The carpet was worn and the shock pads beneath had failed in some areas. Plans for refurbishment were placed on hold during the pandemic. In the summer of 2021, the wider facilities reopened, but the MUGA was limited to opening in dry weather only and really needed some investment to bring it back up to its former glory.

Biffa Award’s grant of £29,593 paid for removal and replacement of the carpet and damaged shock absorbing pads.

The restored playing surface now means users can continue to enjoy the MUGA come rain or shine all year round.
