Fact File
Urban Buzz is a project run by Buglife – The Invertebrate Conservation Trust, using innovation to improve eight cities across English and Wales for pollinators. With UK pollinators in massive decline, techniques in the eight “buzzing cities” will create a total of 200 hectares of new pollinator habitat, and engage 80,000 people with the plight of our pollinators.
Over three years, Biffa Award is awarding just over £1 million to the Urban Buzz project, to support their delivery of the scheme in Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Ipswich, Leeds, Leicester, Plymouth and York.
If you live in one of those cities, look out for the Urban Buzz project near you, and keep an eye out for our precious pollinators.
The size of pollinator habitat that Urban Buzz will create is over 33 Wembley Stadiums! This is a fantastic project with huge importance, not only for the pollinators, but for other wildlife, our agriculture and the cities the project is working within - Rachel Maidment, Biffa Award Grants Manager
